I think the biggest value my clients see in paying me is knowing there will be a well thought out program waiting for them when they get to the gym. Most people don’t spend a lot of time thinking about how I program their next trip to the gym. They don’t wonder if they are training too hard or if their shoulders will still be sore from Monday’s workout to lift well at their next session. They don’t have time to plan out a metabolic circuit at the end of their strength block but be sure that’s the two do not interfere with each other. And preferably the sequence would be completely new just to keep it interesting. (And they’ve been training for the past 10 years…) All that and of course all the exercises would be functional have a specific purpose because everything we do, we do for a reason.
Most people I see don’t even go to the gym with a plan – they just grab some dumbbells and start curling. Sure, having a trainer makes you accountable to someone. That’s great. I’d like to think I bring more to the table then just a reason for someone to show up at the gym.
