We are back with another Behind the RightFit Trainer! This series features one of our personal trainers and give you inside look at their experience, passions and guilty pleasures.
Get to know this month’s RightFit Personal Training featured trainer, Austin Nicoson. As one of our top personal trainers in Houston, TX, Austin offers practical, athletic training that prepares clients for the stresses of everyday life; long work hours, caring for your kids, keeping up with your home.
Why did you become a personal trainer?
I’ve always been at my happiest when I’m in the gym, getting in a great workout and enjoying the energy of people bettering themselves through fitness. I would often see new faces come in and I could tell that they didn’t know what to do. They looked overwhelmed, intimidated, and confused; I didn’t like that. So I wanted to share my years of knowledge and experience with them in a way that would make the gym a more welcoming environment. Everyone deserves to feel welcomed in fitness! The natural solution for me was to become a PT.
What are your favorite things about being a personal trainer?
Definitely the look on someone’s face, the emotion they express, after they’ve just finished a phenomenal workout. They walk a little taller, they smile more, their positive energy is bursting through their pores! The sense of accomplishment and pride is so contagious. Fitness is one of the few things that can foster such a genuine sense of happiness and optimism in such a little amount of time. I love to help create that feeling for people.
If you could train one celebrity, who would it be and why?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, I feel like I could put that guy through the hardest workout I could possibly come up with….and he’d probably crush it!
If you had one workout style to describe yourself, what would it be?
Athletically-Fit! Bring on the weights, the agility, the sprints, the jumps, and maybe a mile or two for good measure. If there’s a zombie apocalypse, my clients and I will be the last ones standing!
In your mind, what is the single biggest benefit for someone to hire a personal trainer?
Efficiency. You’re taking the guess work out of your fitness goals. Instead of spending months/years figuring out the best thing to do for a particular goal, hire someone who has already invested that time. Someone who has already achieved what you’re trying to do. You’ll avoid so much stress, headache, and overall frustration; well worth the investment!
What are your hobbies?
I love spending an afternoon on the golf course! And playing the guitar is my creative outlet. As of lately, I’ve been really getting into real estate investing. I love the idea of creatively turning an “eye sore” into a beautiful home for someone to live in, all while making money doing it. Talk about a win-win!
Any guilty pleasures?
Ehh, not really. “Everything in Moderation” 😉
