Get to know this weeks’s RightFit Personal Training featured trainer, Jonathan Vordenbaum. He believes exercise can treat a wide array of ailments ranging from physical disabilities and injuries to psychological blocks and mental attitudes. His passion and purpose in life is to help his clients in these ways through personal training.
Why did you become a personal trainer?
Movement is medicine for the body in many ways. If exercise is medicine, people will be more inclined to take it if it tastes good. As a trainer I aim to understand the body as deeply and extensively as possible to understand how exercise affects it on every level. Doing that Will allow me to build the most effective workout programs for any individual allowing me to be one of the best in the business at helping people take their “medicine.”
What are your favorite things about being a personal trainer?
Witnessing the lifestyle changes people work so hard to achieve derived from my guidance. Helping people do that can very well save their life. You can read about one of my clients in particular who fit that bill in my “client success story” in my profile.
If you could train one celebrity, who would it be and why?
Shaq because he’s hilarious and is getting older and a little overweight.
If you had one workout style to describe yourself, what would it be?
Turned up to the max and well rounded. Muscle mass, cardio and skills are all very important.
In your mind, what is the single biggest benefit for someone to hire a personal trainer?
Not having to read all the books and studies and not having to spend hours in labs experimenting and testing things to see what works the best like we have. People don’t have to guess and learn a whole other area of expertise when they get a personal trainer to do the thinking and gain the experience for them. Not to mention the amount of extra motivation we can provide. Setting up meetings with us helps to stay motivated to get in the gym or wherever you like to exercise.
What are your hobbies?
All kinds of sports, singing and reading up on the latest science being published in my field.
Any guilty pleasures?
Taking long naps. I’m talking like 2 hrs.
