About Christopher Ryan

My name is Christopher. I started The Genesis Fit because I noticed there was a desperate need for trainers that can facilitate the transition from physical therapy back to normal life. Insurance will only cover 80% of your recovery through physical therapy, and there are very few people who help finish the process. I have 8 years of training experience and currently intern at Bay State Physical Therapy. My business acts primarily as a supplement or follow up to physical therapy and focuses on post-recovery movement training.

Though my focus is on recovery and functional movement, I have also trained athletes, physique and bikini competitors, extreme weight loss, and type II diabetics.

I am also a certified sports nutrition specialist and run multiple nutrition workshops regularly to teach the importance of nutrition. I can be reached directly at 339 793 8087.

Client success story

One of my clients suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). She came to me after meeting me at the PT office where she is recovering from her 3rd injury related to other trainers and classes she has attended. EDS causes hyper mobility in joints which make it seem like these people are very flexible however it is actually due to weak collagen in the joints. People like my client often tend to dislocate their joints more frequently which causes extra wear on the joints. After she finished with PT I was able to help teach her what exercises would be safe for her to do with her condition. We continued to train until she was no longer in any pain from the past injuries and regained full ROM (range of motion). We still keep in contact at the local gym and she has been injury free for the last year since she left my training.

Since I met with Chris the first time I was really impressed by the way he approaches fitness.  I had heard about him from one of my friends who met him at the physical therapist office when he was recovering from his surgery. I originally wanted to just lose a few pounds because I have let myself get comfortable eating these last couple years! The problem was I don’t trust most trainers as I have no idea how to gauge their experience or knowledge and have had a few of my associates get injured due to trainers who had no idea what they were doing. Chris had instant credibility with me due to the fact he was working with a PT office out here in Scituate. When we actually got together the first time I didn’t know what to expect. Our first day we went through a range of motion assessment. Without me even telling him he started asking about my shoulder injuries! He was able to pinpoint right away that there was an issue and we started doing work on it. At the end of the day we had discussed my desire to lose weight and he agreed that I could work on that. So he set me up on his accountability program which included doing physical activity, stretches, a food journal, and check ins with him regularly on top of the 3 times a week I see him. He focused on the habits that put me into my position instead of making me “run” the weight off. He educated me on proper nutrition and never criticized me when I ate a slice of pizza, half a pie, and 2 scotch on the rocks to wash it down. He had me bring in my food journal once a week and we slowly changed the way I was eating until we found a way that I enjoyed but he approved of! After 2 months of training with him I am down 9 lbs, and I am able to properly do push-ups, shoulder press, and no longer have pain in my shoulder. Lately we have been addressing my posture. I feel more relaxed, confident, and stronger as I go through my daily activities than I did 15 years ago at 58! Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Chris! -Don
