About Rory McCullough

My name is Rory McCullough, I was born in Austin, Texas to Irish parents. I have always had an interest in exercising and fitness. It was at a young age that I decided that I wanted to play professional soccer. I was able to achieve my goal and play in the League of Ireland in Ireland. Where my family is originally from. To me, this was a great achievement personally, especially having had 6 knee surgeries on my right knee. Unfortunately, with a mix of a sore knee and the onset of Covid, I left Europe and returned back to Texas. I then decided to enroll in Texas State to obtain my Masters in exercise science, where I am currently attending. I am eager to help people achieve their fitness goals, regardless of their training level.

Training Philosophy
My training philosophy is centered around functional movements. The focus of my training emphasizes cardiovascular fitness, mobility and sports performance.

Training Professionally Since

Typical Training Session

Depending on the fitness level of the client, availability and consistency of the client, the workouts will be tailored to that individual. For example, if someone was training Monday- Friday, the intensity of the training sessions would increase as the week goes on. Monday being easiest and Friday/ Thursday being the most difficult. Most of my training sessions incorporate HIIT sessions with weights and/ or running, endurance/ sprint training, resistance training and mobility.

Client success story

I helped rehab one of my players that I was coaching that tore his quad. Through low impact movements and slow progression, he was able to return faster than normal.

I was working with a client who was recovering from a fragmented patella, yielding in a shortened hamstring. We had to come up with ideas that would lengthen the hamstring in different ways so the body would respond and allow the hamstring to function properly.
