About John Hansen

An ACE Certified Personal Trainer with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
I understand the stress of balancing life- between work, school, and a social life, it can be easy to put aside your health and wellness. I look forward to energetically and patiently helping clients grow and realize there are ways to integrate fitness into busy schedules. I have had the opportunity to work in multiple gyms around Chicago, which has provided me with a better understanding of how to efficiently coach various individuals at different fitness levels. I remain confident in my abilities to help the next person who seeks a Personal Trainer to ultimately better their overall health and fitness habits on a day-to-day basis.

Training Philosophy
Invest in Your Body - You only get one body. Invest in it. Any exercise is better than no exercise. Start creating small achievable goals with a timeline that will assist you in achieving the bigger, more challenging goals down the road.

Client success story

One of my more recent client success stories was established shortly after I got hired at my current place of work, Chicago Athletic Club. I was assigned to a client who sought out a Personal Trainer in order to help with his road to recovery after some major lower extremity injuries had occurred in his life about a year prior to our first session. That said, we as trainers need to be conscious of the fine line between rehabilitation, and training. We are not physical therapists, although there are many similarities that can be found between the two professions. With this, my client was not able to perform many of the evaluation workouts in our consultation session due to his limitations from the injuries. My client spoke about receiving Physical Therapy initially after his injury, though did not continue because he had lost his job and could no longer pay for this type of practice.

I pride myself in not only my ability to efficiently train different individuals, but also in my knowledge of kinesiology and rehabilitation methods with my nearly completed degree in Kinesiology with concentration in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. With this, I was able to incorporate some finely tuned workouts, that really honed in on what my client was seeking at the time, in order to better strengthen the areas that he had previously injured. Additionally, my client expressed gratitude and happiness that I was able to establish a work out plan that was individualized and specific to his needs.

Hobbies
Some of my hobbies include: Basketball, Resistance Training, Traveling, Hiking, Playing the Guitar, and Cooking.
