About Rachel B

I first got into fitness as a kid as I was working to earn a college tennis scholarship. I earned the opportunity to play for BYU- Hawaii, but suffered from a spinal injury my first semester that finished my college tennis career. I discovered Pilates and other corrective exercises that helped me heal my spine. After my experience with this, I knew I had to share this with others. I graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science, and got my comprehensive Pilates certification through Balanced Body. I also became a personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I add my tennis coaching certification through the Professional Tennis Registry, as well as became a mobility specialist through Funtional Range Systems. I’ve been training clients for almost 10 years ranging from people recovering from surgery, to professional athletes.

Training Philosophy
My goal is to uplift everyone that comes to me, not only physically, but mentally as well. I love helping those with chronic pain, and also those who are just looking for more strength and mobility.

September 1, 2014

Typical Training Session

A typical session with me includes a mobility warm up for about 10 minutes, and then a mix of strength training and Pilates, depending on your goals. Everybody’s sessions look different because everybody’s goals and bodies are different

Client success story

I have many success stories from clients who got stronger, lost weight, etc, but I think my favorite success story is a simple one. I have a 70 year old client who really wanted to get down and up from the floor without using her hands, so that she could play with her grandkids easily. She had a knee replacement, arthritis in her spine, a rod in her spine, and hip bursitis- a lot of different ailments! Still, she worked hard at this goal every time she came to me. After 2 months, we got her to be able to sit down fully without her hands, and stand up without her hands!

Hobbies
I love to play tennis, hike, and paddleboard! My husband is from Mexico so I have also enjoyed traveling there and learning Spanish.
