About Bowman Sells

Fitness has always been a part of my life as I was introduced to all kinds of sports as a kid, my favorite being water slalom skiing. Later on, I chose to pursue football and played at the University of Houston as a quarterback. After college football, I also went on to play basketball overseas in Spain. All this is to say that I have been exposed to numerous high-level strength & conditioning coaches, personal trainers, and the like which have played a part in developing me both physically and mentally. More recently, I realized that is something I would like to do in others as well whether they’re an elite athlete or general fitness goer just looking to feel better. This lead me to getting my NASM-CPT certification and have since been training and doing my part to impact others.

Training Philosophy
Perfecting basic movement patterns and creating strong/well-stabilized joints to move through

Training Professionally Since
December 5, 2022

Typical Training Session

Warming up is an essential and very important part of training as it is the time where we can really feel which parts of the body are moving well/not so well and emphasize any mobility/corrective exercises to really prime the body before moving in to the core of the workout. Within the core, I incorporate 2-4 compound movements(multijoint movements) because both life/sport involve these kinds of movements. “Accessory” work is usually done as well which may be more isolated movements that assist with added strength/coordination/stabilization/mobility/etc to better equip the body for those compound movements that are essential in everything we do. And just as warming up is important, so is cooling down. This will consist of either passive stretching/mobility work or light cardio in order to actively bring the body back to homeostasis and jumpstart the recovery process.

Client success story

Jessie, a 35 year old mom, came to me stressed out, low on time and energy, and with goals of losing weight and being able to move around better with her kids. I developed a plan using workouts in the format I described above while incorporating specific movement patterns/exercises that fit her ability. In my opinion, the hardest part of getting results is staying consistent long enough to see them. The workouts will only work if you continue to do them and while Jessie struggled with this at first, we pushed through together and she is now seeing the benefits of being in it for the long game. After almost 5 months, she says she now feels more energized and alert throughout the day and has lost over 15 lbs while adding strength/coordination which allows her to move much better.
