Train out of your home – The trainer comes to you.
I discovered yoga in 1999 and first became certified in 2002 by a company called Sara’s City Workout in Dallas,
Texas. At the time, I taught power yoga and was determined to achieve every pose exactly as it was shown in drawings and magazines. In 2015 I enrolled in yoga teacher training again–this time studying more therapeutic and gentle yoga (Foundations of Yoga Therapy) at Yoga Yoga in Austin, Texas. Due to the hours of training I received from 2015-2017, I adopted a new way of experiencing and teaching yoga. I enjoy teaching chair, gentle hatha yoga, and meditation.

When working with an individual client, I first discuss the reason for the session–which is most often due pain related or due to an injury. I will then analyze the client’s movements and tendencies using basic yoga poses and normal daily activities such as walking, standing, getting into and out of a chair or transitioning to the floor. After that we will work on specific poses and movements, breath work, and even meditations to help remediate the issue. The client will leave with a drawing and description of the sequences and notes on any other practices to continue at home.
My oldest son is a massage therapist. Five years ago he asked me for recommendations to keep his lower back from hurting. I drew out a sequence for him to follow either daily or whenever he was in pain. We practiced the sequence together in his living room. Just recently (2024), he told me that he still uses the routine I created for him because it helps relieve his pain.
